What the feck is going on in the US? Who has won?

No one yet. Its all a bit daft.

So - the election isnt decided by popular vote.an electoral college exists - it has 538 members. They are divided into the states based on population. E.g. California has more than Wisconsin.

All the votes are counted by state. Who ever wins in each state gets that state's electoral college votes. In order to win you need a simple majority of 540 - so 270.

This year is slower because loads of people voted by post so states are still counting.

Does that make sense?

No-one yet. They're still counting.

When they finish counting, if Biden seems to have won, Trump will sue.

If Trump appears to have won, Biden will accept the result of the US election machine.

Tomorrow maybe, or Saturday.
