Roast chicken in the slow cooker

I’m planning to put a chicken in my slow cooker tomorrow, was wondering if anyone could share any tips for livening it up a bit, as the lemon, honey red onion thing I do when roasting in the oven just doesn’t really cut it.

Thanks.

I put carrots, onion, garlic and a pint or so of stock made with a good quality mushroom stockcube. Corn fed chicken is best but it gives off more fat. It makes amazing gravy.

I rubbed paprika on it. A-mazing. Put it on a bed of carrots and veg with some liquid underneath. After its done grill it for crispy skin.

I did the turkey in a slow cooker one Christmas. It was pale but very moist.
I think onions, white wine, garlic, celery, carrot, lemon & rosemary went in the pot.

Oh, maybe add a couple of tablespoons of wholegrain mustard? Stir through creme fraiche on serving to make a sauce.
