2-3 super duper warm coats

Hi

I've searched high and low to find my DD a super warm but still pretty coat. I need 2 really, one being for nursery.

It's hard to look for a coat online because you don't know how thick and warm they're going to be!! I've looked at all supermarkets, children's salon website, Matalan, Boden, monsoon etc

So. Where did you get your toddlers coats from and are they warm enough?

We have one from Muddy Puddles which is warm and excellent quality. Might be over budget if you're buying two, though. We don't have a second one for nursery.

And I have both coats for my almost 4 year old son and they are both pretty warm.

Otherwise Mountain Warehouse do padded coats and 3 in 1 jackets.

Mine is on her second from JoJo Maman Bebe - warmed lined with waterproof exterior.

I think they have a new one with a separate fleece inside that looks tempting.

When they go to the park nursery put on their puddle suits then the coats on over the top to keep them warm

Polarn O Pyret, Frugi, Mountain Warehouse and Boden’s are really warm fwiw. Joules do decent ones too and Zara.

I go to the outdoors shops. Fashion coats often look waterproof and thick with insulation, but the materials aren't always as effective as they appear.

Decathlon are great value.
DS1 is cosy all winter in shorts, t-shirt and his Decathlon coat!

When dd was a toddler I used to get her coats from Verbaudet. They used to do the 2 in 1 style with removable fleece inner jacket which were lively and warm. They were waterproof as well. She is 8 now and her last few coats have been from joules. She's also had regatta coats for the park etc.

Polarn O Pyret or Muddy Puddles seem really lovely coats, several of our reception children wear them. Think I'd like an adult version. Haven't looked but I imagine they are expensive .

I got DD one from Next. They list them with snowflakes and I bought her a 3 snowflake one. Honestly, it's too warm for her most of the time. And I say that as someone living in a cold place where it's hovering at zero or under plus snow for a good 2.5 months of the year.

My DD's coat is from Trespass - I got it in their sale so it wasn't at all expensive but it is very warm. They are outdoors most of the time at her nursery now because of Covid so I think it is important she has good outdoor clothing. It is a very boring coat to look at though!
