Illustrated book recommendations

Would anyone be able to recommend a children's book with beautiful illustrations? I like to give a special book as a gift each year, classic or modern, in hard back. It's for a 7 year old.

Yes the Harry Potter ones are lovely. I used to have a beautiful illustrated version of Heidi.

Do you specifically want a novel op? My 6 year old loves Creaturepedia(Adriennne Barman) for the illustrations.
