Trivial disappointments

In these stressful times, I thought maybe some of us might find a bit of light relief in sharing any trivial disappointments that come our way.

Here's mine. After trimming away the tough green leaves from the cauliflower we're having tonight I'm left with a miniature cauli in the centre. One floret for each of us, I'd say. Fortunately, I wasn't planning on cauliflower cheese as the main meal.

What's making you sigh?

DS just went to do his homework (still on half term) only to find that his pencil case has vanished. It’s his first year of high school so I spent an absolute fortune kitting him out with everything he could ever need and it’s all gone. It’s not the end of the world but I feel like it’s tipped me over the edge today 😢.

That's not as trivial as mine! What a bugger.

I said I was giving up Diet Coke and replacing it with Sparkling water. I have lasted 3 days and bought 10 cans of Diet Coke convincing myself it's just for a mixer for spirits. I really want a can now but they are not in the fridge. Plus DH will come home and make sarky comments about willpower.Sigh.

I thought we had a slice of sponge cake left, but when I looked in the cupboard, I discovered my husband had eaten it.

We've eaten the last of the gingerbread bicuits already. Couldn't have one with my cuppa

I'm not one to give up a grudge lightly. I reminded my husband recently about the occasion 12 or more years ago when during a shitty day at work I remembered the bottle of cava we'd had the day before for a birthday wasn't finished and I perked up. However, when I got home it was gone. He doesn't even like the stuff but thought he would be helpful and use it up. I wasn't pleased.
