Lockdown 2.0 - website/screen time sharing thread

Due to lockdown and a few other complicating factors, my DC will be having alot of screen time over the next few months! Does anyone fancy a thread to share ideas for screen-based activities (online classes, youtube channels, websites etc)?

Things we enjoy in our house are;

  • watching episodes of educational TV with grandparents online (think Google hangout works well for this)
  • joining in with Cosmic Yoga on youtube
  • episodes of Science Max on youtube
  • English Heritage cooking videos (not available on YT Kids, only adult YT)
  • BBC Teach, particularly the history section

I'd love to get the DC (8 and 5) into some sort of online class (coding, yoga or similar) but the ones I've seen online have been extortionate. Would love to hear anymore ideas!

Anyone else? Or am I the only one whose DC are having lots of screen time?! Blush

Scratch seems to have our 8 year old interested in basic coding.

And Minecraft - playing with friends across different devices (Switch, iPad, computer as far as I know) seems to help the social isolation. The parental controls are a PITA though!

Learning to touch type would be useful too.

Ooh haven't heard of scratch - thanks. Yes DS is a big Minecraft fan, hadn't figured out the playing with friends bit yet tho!
