Any test and trace workers around? *title edited by MNHQ at OP's request*

My daughters boyfriend stayed on Thursday night and Friday night. He tested positive for covid on Sunday.
We are isolating but track and trace haven't been in touch with him.

A family member that works at the hospital is saying we only need to isolate if my daughter gets symptoms or a positive test.

I don't know what to do. I'm self employed so not getting paid and can't claim the isolation grand as track and trace haven't been in touch with anyone!

Are we doing the correct thing?

You should both isolate for 14 days.

Your family member is wrong.

Track and Trace is a service by the Royal Mail. You mean Test and Trace!

I thought so too! We are isolating and have been since he received the test.

My sister had to isolate for 2 weeks. The positive case she was in contact with was contacted the same night as their positive test, and gave her details. She was then contacted the following morning.

This was 4 weeks ago, your delays may be an example of how the system is now overwhelmed and failing with so many cases.

you both should isolate for 14 days.

My DD had her positive test nearly 4 weeks ago and we didn't hear from Test and Trace for 3 days which is when they did the contact tracing and they then got in touch with contacts 36hrs later. So they system was probably already overwhelmed!

Northernsoullover · 03/11/2020 09:09

Its quite busy which can mean a delay. Also many people think they are doing people a favour by NOT passing names on.

I really hope they get the situation sorted before we come out of lockdown.
Things will never improve if test and trace doesn't improve !

My uncle tested positive Sunday, there’s a link to test and trace in the text you get with your result - fill that in with your contacts and they then get either a text or an email fairly quickly - we got one within 30 mins of him filling in the details.

We haven’t had phone calls though. Just texts asking us to isolate and record symptoms.

If he’s not filled in the contact list then you won’t be contacted because they don’t have your details.

LangClegsInSpace · 03/11/2020 09:36

There really needs to be a way for contacts to self-report.
