How long for test and trace to contact

I saw a friend last week at a local event and chatted stood in an outdoor queue.
She has included me in people she has seen within 48 hours of symptoms.
If track and trace were contact me does anyone know how long it takes?
Just wondering about planning ahead for work school etc.
And if they don't contact me do I carry on as normal with social distancing etc?

I don't know the answer to the track and trace question but it depends how close abs how long you were in contact for with regard to whether you should be social distancing

JustFrustrated · 02/11/2020 13:20

Do you have the app on your phone? Cause that should notify you within 48 hours of her notifying the app of her positive result

I say should. It's bullshit and doesn't work properly at all.

Apparently my Aunt hadn't been around my Uncle long enough to warrant her SI too...they live together for fucks sake.

Probably about 5 minutes. The queue was pretty busy and not much social distancing going on.

I will happily self isolate if they think it's necessary, just wondering how long it generally takes them to tell people.

Friend got a positive result mid morning today.

I do have the app! I will just limited contact for the next couple of days and see what happens.

Wow that sounds ridiculous.

My daughter was in the same house on a Monday evening as someone who tested positive - contact was under 5 minutes as she walked into the kitchen to the sink, filled a water bottle and walked out again (He was on the other side of the room) but he listed her as 'close contact'., She got the text on the Saturday evening (doesn't have the app) so a good 5 days later!

My husband’s app told him to self isolate but test and trace never contacted him. He knew he was a close contact so did the 14 days but technically I don’t think he had to as he wasn’t told to.

My relative was contacted by phone two days after her friend tested positive.

Mindymomo · 02/11/2020 13:55

My son was never contacted by track and trace. 5 of his work colleagues tested positive, but they all say nobody has contacted them, so he self isolated for 14 days once he was told.

yorkshirepudddiing · 02/11/2020 15:33

It beggars belief that it takes days to contact people that need to isolate.

2 very recent experiences: first case, no contacts were called by track and trace at all. Second case, t&t contacted them within 12 hours of the positive test result. Same area so not a geographical thing? It's bizarre.

yorkshirepudddiing · 02/11/2020 15:46

It's very annoying because I don't believe I need to isolate given the fact we were outside and at least 1m apart.

I will do it if I am asked to.

But in the mean time I'm in limbo.

Don't even know who I would call or if there is a number to call to chase up these things.

A lot quicker in the future if the call from Bernard Jenkin MP to sack Dido Harding and replace with a competent person takes place.

Let your MP know of the failings of the system.

yorkshirepudddiing · 02/11/2020 21:01

Well it's been 12 hours since my friend tested positive and spoke to track and trace so I would hope that if I was required to self isolate I would have been contacted by now!
