Gallstone attack - anyone awake

Anyone awake who can tell me how to relive a gallstone attack?

It’s woken me up about 30 minutes ago, pain under rib, through to back and hurts to breathe.

I have no clue! Just posting to say I hope you're doing ok

A hot bath, a heated pad and whatever the strongest painkiller you have in the house

Harry978 · 02/11/2020 05:10

Thanks both.

I’ve just taken paracetamol as that is all we have in. I don’t have a heat pad, I’ll go and run a bath to try that.

I don’t have a fever which is what my gp said to check for to see if I needed to go to a&e

Hope you’ve managed to get some relief 💐

Harry978 · 02/11/2020 05:47

@FippertyGibbett not yet but thank you. It’s not as bad as previous attacks where it has been like labour but it is still very painful. I’m hoping it shouldn’t last much longer.

Had mine removed a few years ago as I was in such pain. Never known anything like it other than labour! Mine was full of impacted stones and infection when they removed it. Best decision ever. Had a bad stomach for a week after. Had to be careful what I ate for a further 2-3 months as my body couldn’t deal with fatty food. Since then I’ve been fine, can eat what I want without any problems.

Buscopan was the only thing that really took the edge off the pain for me. More so than paracetamol and ibuprofen. Pretty sure you can buy it over the counter, although I had it in a large quantity on prescription.

Hope you feel better soon.

neatfreak999 · 02/11/2020 06:04

Buscopan didn’t take away all the pain for me, but took the edge off and made it bearable.

Harry978 · 02/11/2020 06:19

@neatfreak999 thanks. It’s still painful, it’s been around 2 hours now I think as not sure exactly what time it woke me up. I have seen buscopan mentioned so will get some ready for next time.
