I am having some extensive and necessary building work done to my house. It was planned ages ago, with neighbours on either side fully informed, and the start was delayed because of lockdown. (I was about to appoint a builder in March but put everything on hold.) Work finally started in August. The builders are pretty considerate and try to minimise noise but obviously building work is noisy and to make it even worse, there is currently plastic sheeting in place to protect the exposed parts, and this is really noisy flapping in the wind.
Neighbours have not complained as such but one neighbour has said how the timing is bad because of new lockdown etc. I feel terrible but can’t do anything about it. I can’t stop the work as if I do I will be bankrupt and homeless. Really worried it will forever destroy my relationship with the neighbours. Has anyone been through this and come out the other end still on speaking terms with the neighbours?
