Facebook page / groups question

I have a Facebook page with a linked private group. I’m unable to add anyone to the group unless they are ‘fans’ of the page. Facebook seems to be randomly deciding who is / isn’t a fan - for example one person liked the page over a week ago, has commented and I can’t invite but another liked the page today with no interaction and she was on the invite list straight away!

I need to be able to add people to the group. I’ve googled and looked on Facebook help topics but can’t resolve it.

Any ideas please?

Post the group link onto the page and invite your followers to click on it and join?

I'm not sure, but I think if they message the page they might go on the "fans" list.

@FelicityFlamingo that only works for liking the page and not for joining a linked group, but you’d expect it to do both!

@user127819 I’ll ask for people to do that and see if it works.
