Mash and green veg. I'd have crusty bread with soup but having it with casserole is a new one on me.

Oblomov20 · 01/11/2020 16:26

I cook potatoes and big carrots in with the chicken, in the casserole.

Chewbecca · 01/11/2020 16:28

We had chicken casserole just an hour ago - with dumplings and broccoli, needs a bit of non mushy veg IMO.

purplecorkheart · 01/11/2020 16:30

Crusty bread and maybe a green salad.

TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 01/11/2020 16:30

It depends what else is in it. I've made beef stew for tonight. It has potatoes and veg in. And dumplings on top so it's a whole meal in itself imo. Might do some extra veg.

If it didn't have potatoes in I might serve it with mash.

KatherineJaneway · 01/11/2020 16:31

Mash

bettybyebye · 01/11/2020 16:32

Mashed potato/jacket potato and pickled red cabbage 😋 autumn on a plate!

ParadiseLaundry · 01/11/2020 16:48

Usually baked potato and extra veg.

I'm going to start my own thread about what to put in a chicken casserole now because I don't t want to derail your thread op.

CatsAndEyeliner · 01/11/2020 16:54

@BloomedAgain not quite a standard casserole but this National Trust one is pretty good.

(Served with crusty bread.)

@CatsAndEyeliner Thank you that looks really delicious

BackforGood · 01/11/2020 18:20

My favourite is rice.
However, sometimes it is bread or occasionally boiled potatoes or mash. Depends what needs eating up.

DigitalChristmas · 01/11/2020 18:23

Mash and green beans

ImFree2doasiwant · 01/11/2020 18:25

and some green veg

magicstar1 · 01/11/2020 18:29

Everything is in it...chicken, vegetables, potatoes so nothing else needed.

BikerWife · 01/11/2020 18:30

Dumplings & Green veg

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 01/11/2020 18:31

Potatoes in some form. A green vegetable - cabbage, kale, greens, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, peas, green/runner beans. Possibly also cauliflower and/or parsnips. Just possibly carrots if they weren't in the casserole. The more veg the better, as far as I'm concerned. Dumplings wonderful but optional.

minipie · 01/11/2020 18:35

The only chicken casserole I make is a Moroccan one so, cous cous.

Non spiced casseroles I would serve with mash or baked potato, or sweet potato, or if in a hurry then cous cous. And greens if we have some.

Nat6999 · 01/11/2020 18:37

Carrot batons roasted in Olive oil with garlic.
