As I was putting away the washing up this morning, I realised we have some things we only use once or twice a year.

My example - pumpkin carving kit.

What do you have?

And less than once a year, my iron.

Digeridont · 01/11/2020 11:58

Christmas tree

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 01/11/2020 12:03

Let's not discuss the iron 🤣

Other than the thing which shall not be mentioned, I think only seasonal things

Halloween bowl

Bunch of Christmas stuff, but used over the Christmas period
T towels
Hand towels
Mugs
Mulled wine mugs
Etc all in a box in the loft.

A few kitchen things I no longer use due to a change in diet due to a medical condition. Can't quite bring myself to get rid of them yet & tbf if COVID ever fucks off, other people will probably use them.

OhTheRoses · 01/11/2020 12:03

Christmas tree and devs
Crystal pickle dish
Christmas runner
Grannies candelabras
Fish kettle
My snow boots - sometimes less

popcorndiva · 01/11/2020 12:09

Pumpkin carving kit
Board games (only seem to do them on Christmas Day,)

PersicariaBistortaSuperba · 01/11/2020 12:12

Curious as to what a pumpkin carving kit involves?

FlouncerInDenial · 01/11/2020 12:23

Christmas jumper (for work, not actually on Christmas day)
A witches outfit for world book day. I have been various witches from children's literature

BertieBotts · 01/11/2020 12:26

What is a pumpkin carving kit?? I have only ever used a normal spoon to scoop out the seeds, and a sharp kitchen vegetable knife.

Kittytheteapot · 01/11/2020 12:28

Turkey lifters.

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 01/11/2020 12:33

The key component of the pumpkin carving kit is a serrated skewer thing that makes chiselling out the shapes a lot easier.

This is very true!

I remember being quite amazed the year I tried the serrated tiny knife from the 99p carving kit that it completely outdid (and changed a quite difficult and not much fun job into a fun easy job) the quite expensive knife I had been using but hating.
I only found out because chef needed the knife back back.

flatpack1 · 01/11/2020 13:34

Nutcrackers

LoeliaPonsonby · 01/11/2020 13:37

Another once a year outing for the trifle bowl here too.

ViciousJackdaw · 01/11/2020 14:19

After Eight carriage. A dreadful silver metal holder which fits one box of AE. I think DM got it from an Argos catalogue in the early Eighties and it has passed on to me. It's still in the attic atm but it looks just like this one:

Asparagus steamer, though used a few times during the season.

Pewter goblets, only used at Christmas.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 01/11/2020 14:31

My ski gear. If I had my way it will never be used again. Webe compromised on me watching the others ski and drinking hot chocolate.
