Underwear smells of new washing detergent

I bought a new washing detergent and my clothes are washed and dried now. All my clothes smell of the new detergent including my underwear. Would these be OK to wear or should I wash them again in my usual detergent powder. In case I develop itch from the smell.

Akire · 31/10/2020 22:34

All washing smells It’s just you get used to your smell.

This is the strangest question I've ever read on MN.

Washing detergent leaves a "clean" smell.

Surely this isn't the first time you've noticed that freshly washed clothes smell clean?

NotYourDawg · 31/10/2020 23:26

I'm a bit tipsy and reread your OP. So it's a new detergent - you're just noticing a different smell to your usual detergent.

Flutter12 · 31/10/2020 23:36

I completely get this! Are you worried the detergent hasn’t washed off properly? So it may cause itching etc. If this is the case I’d rinse them in plain water.

Flutter12 · 31/10/2020 23:36

Or have I read it completely wrong

goingtotown · 01/11/2020 00:19

DarklisAndlsa That made me laugh.

Surely it's unicorn tears at the very least?
AriettyHomily · 01/11/2020 00:23

Eh? What do you want it to smell of?

WunWun · 01/11/2020 00:26

This reminds me of that thread the other day where the OP was asking if it was okay to store mayonnaise in the fridge before the jar had been opened.

Houseworkavoider · 01/11/2020 00:32

It should be fine. You’re probably only noticing it because it’s a new smell.
If you do feel any irritation, maybe change your detergent to non-bio one.
