What hobby, interest or activity have you taken up as you've got older and become an "empty nester"?

Ooh not an empty nester yet but definitely watching with interest. I need some ideas and inspiration!

Not strictly an empty nester as dd1 comes and goes but I’m learning Welsh on Duolingo.
Been doing it two months now for about 20 mins a day.

Restarted crochet. Used to do it many, many years ago, but stopped as I was short of time, but am really enjoying it again now.

Crochet here too. I aim to make an all white granny square blanket to cover the couch. Three squares down do far [thksmile].

Also decoupage - I successfully redid a charity shop side table this autumn.

I still have two DDs living here but both are over 18 and doing university online.

I'm revisiting German on Duolingo. I did two years of German in school more than 30 years ago and I've been surprised how much I remember and also how much ground we covered in those two years.

Maybe I should do a typing course Halloween Wink

I have learnt to sew. Having literally never done more than sewa button on before. My mum taught me and now I have a sewing cupboard and have made cushions, clothes for me and my children, a throw for my bed, an apron. Lots of stuff. Am currently making a maxi dress with pockets. It’s a bit of a stretch compared to my other things but all good fun

Me too.

Also started doing Yin yoga in the afternoon.

Crochet.

I decided I wanted to make some snowflakes for my Christmas tree, 3 weeks later I'm attempting some wristwarmers & have ordered wool to try and make dd2 a Minecraft bee!

Orienteering. If you have even a hint of a suspicion that you might like it, I can tell you now that you’d love it.
