As if today wasn't shite enough, dd1 and I spent ages on our cake this morning. The fruit had been soaking for days in a mixture of brandy and bourbon. It cooked for over 4 hours, smelling immense.
Turned it out of the tin and it splatted. It was cooked properly but I suspect perhaps I may have overdone the liquid .
2 pluses - it tastes amazing. Properly gorgeous
Dd2 has the genius idea of packing it into a pudding basin so we are now going to pretend it's Christmas pud.
That will teach me to be too liberal with the booze
