Coraline? paranorman ? Chosen by my DGS who said the Addams Family wasn't creepy enough.

vanillandhoney · 31/10/2020 17:50

Coraline.
The Addams Family.
Casper.
The Nightmare Before Christmas.
The Haunted Mansion.
Hocus Pocus.
Goosebumps.
Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Hotel Transylvania.
Paranorman.
Frankenweenie.

Nothing wrong with a good cartoon Grin

Thank you !

So far the vote is for Ghostbusters as also hoping to persuade 16 year old to join us and most others voted 'too young' by him.

Now exH (who is invited for evening, god help me) has said, in a babyish voice: 'Ghostbusters? how boooooooring'.
Not going to cause a scene but I am reminded why he is an ex!!! Grrr.

New Netflix film called Hubie Halloween is quite good.

Landlubber2019 · 31/10/2020 18:10

The house with the clocks in the walls is excellent imo

Pimmsypimms · 31/10/2020 18:39

God, don't waste your time with Hubie Halloween!!
An hour and a half of my life I'll never get back, didn't laugh once, it was awkward, cringey and painful to watch!!
Lost boys is always a good one, common sense media says age 12
Goosebumps
Paranorman

Forcedoutoflurking · 31/10/2020 19:10

I think The Others and Poltergeist are fine for 13 year old, and proper scary

GetTheStartyParted · 31/10/2020 19:52

Agree with Poltergeist and Lost Boys for something a bit scary. Hocus Pocus and Goosebumps are good too but not scary for my 12yo.

Ghostbusters is a classic.

We watched 10 minutes of Hubie Halloween and thought it was terrible. Many others have said how much they enjoyed it though.

june2007 · 31/10/2020 20:09

Completely forgot about The Others. I think it,s a 12 it,s great.

Mokusspokus · 31/10/2020 21:11

Were is the house with the clock in its walls?

52andblue · 31/10/2020 22:54

thanks all.
most spooky movies scare the crap out of me so I find it hard to judge
(no way would I watch Poltergeist or The Others!)
We went for Ghostbusters in the end. Great fun.
Watching GB 2 tomorrow hopefully :)
