My Moominmamma has grown a chin hair!

God knows we need some fucking light hearted news for a change so here you go...

My moominmamma toy (she is much loved and sleeps with me every night even though I am in my 40s) appears to have grown a chin hair...

I swear I am not trolling or photoshopping - this is genuinely true! I took photos to show DH (and then when he didn't believe me I took a video to show him I was pulling on the hair and it was actually attached to her Blush) The hair actually came out (this felt strangely satisfying) and left a little tiny stubble. I have also taken a close up from the video to show the stubble Grin

WTF though. How can this happen? Is she expressing sympathy for my own chin hairs?

Also. Is it her chin? Or is it on her snout?

Come and marvel at the wonder of my hairy moomin (that sounds all kind of wrong)...

The first photo isn't very clear, it's where I plucked the hair and a little bit of stubble was left on her chin (chin? Snout?)

It's a sympathetic hair - helping you on your way ....

MoominmammaHasGrownAChinHair · 31/10/2020 17:34

I'm now thinking the delays to the press conference (SNAFU Hmm) are due to the fact they are trying to include the news of Moominmamma's chin hair.

Can you tell I am desperately trying to distract myself and annoyed people are clearly waiting at their TVs instead of marvelling in amazement at this thread

Where did the hair come from? How is it possible though?

Do you have cats?

Bluebelltulip · 31/10/2020 18:37

I love the moomins so this thread has cheered me up. Properly furr or hair that has got lodged just right (or wrong depending on which way you look at it). I want to find my snorkmaiden now but DS is asleep in my room.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 31/10/2020 19:42

There is a snorkmaiden toy? Off to google ....

PeskyRooks · 31/10/2020 19:48

Very strange how your Moominmamma grew a hair!! But I'd love a thread of moomin stuff people have got. I've got a moominmamma mug and no-one is allowed to use it but me! Sorry it's sideways.

PeskyRooks · 31/10/2020 19:49

Oh it came out right way up! That's ok then.

dementedma · 31/10/2020 19:52

Another Moomin fan here. My sister’s cat is also called Moomin.

Fairybatman · 31/10/2020 19:54

If she’s in her 40’s she’s just joining the rest of us! Smile

DMCWelshcakes · 31/10/2020 20:15

Bloody love the Moomins.

I would show you all the stuff I own but I'd out myself.

Has anyone else been to Moominworld in Naantali?

BaldAndWild · 31/10/2020 20:28

I've just ordered some moomin books (for the kids you understand) from Abe books!

One of my secondary school geography teachers bore a passing resemblance to the Groke.

MoominmammaHasGrownAChinHair · 31/10/2020 21:20

Moomin lovers! Hurrah Smile I would love to go to Moominworld (although inside my head is a moomin world all of my very ownSmile)

We do have a cat but she is extremely fluffy, this hair was like the wiry texture of a human chin hair (or so I've heard from my friends Wink) and it appeared fully sprouted overnight in the manner of human chin hair...

Grin at a teacher resembling the Groke - did they glide silently through the corridors? I did feel a bit sorry for the proper Groke really, poor old Groke.

I love the moomins. I don't think my photo allowance on MN is enough to put up all the moomin stuff in my house, but as I NCed here are the things that are closest to hand (literally Wink)

This thread is a nice escape from RL isn't it? Anyone have a favourite Moomin character?

I aspire to be Moominmamma but fail miserably at being patient, and kind, and peaceful and everything else basically Grin

I have a hatifattener mug which is the perfect size for my morning coffee. I've had it for 10 years now!

The Arabia mugs are the perfect size aren't they. Some of the prices for the collectibles are Shock I love the Hattifatteners. I think the Moomin books are those type of books that are great for DC but also as you get older, they take on different meanings, the characters as well as the stories, IFSWIM.

Has anyone done this quiz? Apparently I am Snufkin and (despite wishing I am Moominmamma) it's actually quite accurate in that I very much like my personal space Grin

Today I will be sewing more Moomin face masks. I did ask one of my DDs if it would be too much to wear a moomin face mask with moomin tattoos and shoes and handbag (I like my accessories to match Grin) and she answered "there can never be too much Moomin". I have brought her up well Smile

Actually @weegiemum I am in awe you have had that for ten years and it is in such good condition and unbroken! I had a Moominmama mug at work and someone knocked it out of the cupboard and broke it Sad I considered briefly if it could be classed as gross misconduct Wink

Snufkin is my favourite. I am totally Snufkin but I have to pretend to be Moominmama. She's lovely though, growing a chin hair is exactly what she'd do to make someone feel better.

I well up when I think of how she recognised Moomintroll after the Hobgoblin's hat had transformed him.

dementedma · 01/11/2020 10:49

Moominmama is such a great character. She even makes the reader feel safe as you feel you could turn up at the Moomin house and just be cuddled in and accepted with the rest of the family.
I love Snufkin and his wanderings and fierce Little My. Also feel a bit sorry for The Groke. She’s a sad and lonely soul.

MoominmammaHasGrownAChinHair · 01/11/2020 13:03

"She looked into his frightened eyes for a very long time, and then she said quietly: ‘Yes, you are my Moomintroll.’"

No chin hairs today. I have checked closely Grin

Made the mistake of wandering into the rest of MN earlier, dear God I think everyone should be more Moominmamma! I think I shall stay here today.
