It's all yours. What do you want to comment on?

NancysDream · 30/10/2020 19:31

about the second French lockdown? Or just opinions on him generally

Maireas · 30/10/2020 19:50

Horrific. I saw those scenes of mass rallies in various cities today. I hope Macron has top notch security.

Branleuse · 30/10/2020 19:53

Im not a fan of his in general, but I am worried about what this all means now the press in so many arabic countries are inciting violence against france.

Zeebeezee · 30/10/2020 20:06

But where is Chinese/Asian angle coming from?

France has a complicated relationship with former Colonies like Tunisia, Algeria, and to a lesser extent AFAIK Morocco etc. That is probably how the murderer got into France having travelled from Tunisia to Lampedusa. No money worries there for his journey was there?

Which begs the question, who or what entity is behind all this.

RIP to those who were killed and decapitated. Barbaric stuff and no one can deny this.

PercyKirke · 30/10/2020 21:40

To comment about what?

Rhine · 30/10/2020 21:43

To comment on how hot he is?

Shizzlestix · 30/10/2020 23:03

To comment on how he said people can make cartoons of Mohammed?

The 3 North African countries have a direct link with France in kind of the same way as India does with the U.K.. I’m not sure of the actual legalities, but I think emigrating to France from there isn’t too difficult. There’s a lot of resentment in those countries about the use of French signage etc, I saw some pretty angry rants on Francophone social media about that last week.

Branleuse · 31/10/2020 07:59

He has said that the right to free speech includes the right to offend religions.
To frame that as protecting the right to depict mohammed is hardly the whole story. France has a long history of caricature and is secular. They dont have blasphemy laws abd shouldnt be held to them

Ylvamoon · 31/10/2020 08:06

I agree, it's a bit more complicated than just the French tradition of caricature.
A lot is resentment from former colonies and everything that comes with that.

Branleuse · 31/10/2020 08:39

They havent handled integration very well thats for sure. That doesnt justify so many of the arabic press in all sorts of countries that are unrelated to french colonies calling him a satanist and practically issuing a fatwa

pusspuss9 terrified of what? We need to stand up for the right to free speech, the more we sit back and allow ourselves to be scared to speak then we are truly finished.

I agree but judging by the reactions of various Islamic countries, France is going to be subjected to many more atrocities.
ninninannonoonoo · 31/10/2020 13:16

There are several threads about what lockdown is like in France and other countries.

I've just read a terrifyingly ill-informed post about the cartoons at the root of the terrorist attacks.

What is it you want to discuss OP?
Can you be more specific.

Branleuse · 31/10/2020 13:31

I dont think this is about lockdown. Im surprised so few people are talking about this situation actually. This is on our doorstep

DrDavidBanner · 31/10/2020 15:42

Its awful, just so dreadful. TBH I imagine a lot of French citizens would welcome a boycott from fundamentalists if it means they won't be butchering innocent people.

ninninannonoonoo · 31/10/2020 15:59

Well there's this one, but I really hope the OP is a troll Hmm
