Annoying situation at work

Have returned after mat leave + looking to move jobs: first round interview for new role in an hour (video conf) but a client call has just come in for the same time eurgh ...

I am not senior enough to decline to client call and will have to attend, no questions asked ...

Equally really keen to have the interview and dont want to blow it.

Anyone have any advice to handle? I have spoken to one of the recruitment team already today (not in the UK!) so not sure what reason I can give to rearrange that wont sound flakey.

Why can’t you be honest (ish) and say you’ve been asked to step in to lead a meeting as supervisor is off sick? That way you look good and don’t upset current work.

I actually think it makes you look like a good, reliable employee to put your current role first and tell the recruiting role the truth. After all, it shows that you’ll put them first if they give you the job.
