Bad night :( What's keeping you up?

I suffer from emetophobia- fear of vomiting (and general anxiety/panic attacks) and I have an upset stomach this evening. Think it may be down to my period but I'm so scared it's a bug and I'll start throwing up. I know in my realistic mind though that it's nothing to worry about and what will be will be etc and it won't kill me but I can't help but feel on edge!

I start CBT in December for my panic attacks so I'm hoping to address the emetophobia too.💪🏻 I've found it helps to share my anxieties at night on here.

What's keeping you up right now?

I feel for you. It’s horrid, isn’t it.
No idea why I’m awake, tired but my mind won’t switch off tonight.

BigBigPumpkin · 28/10/2020 02:32

Lie down on your bathroom floor, OP. I find lying down on a cool floor when nauseated both helps with the nausea and prevents vomiting.

Up with newborn DS.

The tail end of a migraine, kind of headachy, kind of not.

Ah that's horrible op. Hopefully you get some sleep soon and wake up feeling better.

I'm not sure why I'm awake, been up since 0430 so should be sound asleep or at least very tired but I'm wide awake and none of my usual tricks are sending me off to sleep. Up again at 0500 for work which is going to be awful

I have a cool pad in my pillow case, that helps too

I went to bed at 8pm as I had nasty period pain and just wanted to sleep.

Now enjoying a quiet house and will try to drop off again soon.

Hope you feel better OP.

I’m having horrific thoughts just now and struggling to switch them off. I hope this passes for you soon, I’ve not long had a bug myself. Can’t imagine it with your emetophobia also. 💕

rainatnightlove · 28/10/2020 02:38

Thank you everyone, I'm sorry you're all up too! Congratulations on your new baby @BigBigPumpkin!

Sending sleepy and peaceful vibes to us all! Thanks We'll be okay.

@MamaJBW So sorry to hear you're having bad thoughts, anything in particular?

I find listening to rain sounds very soothing and a nice distraction.

@MamaJBW Have you tried confronting the thoughts? Allowing yourself to get up, put a light on, maybe also the TV and actually following them through to their logical conclusion? What would you do in each situation? I find having a plan helps.

MamaJBW · 28/10/2020 02:41

It’s basically worrying about my little boy if I randomly died in my sleep, no one would be here for him until his daddy finished work and I can just imagine him trying to wake me up and cuddle me like he does every morning 💔

DiscustinHunAmFummin · 28/10/2020 02:41

Hope you feel better soon OP.
My toddler woke up and I got him back to sleep quickly, just as I was falling back to sleep I remembered I never checked out my shopping delivery!
Lots of other issues swirling round now but that's the main one and I am kicking myself! Random item delivery of things we don't actually need will be arriving Blush

Springb0ks · 28/10/2020 02:52

Checking in. I've got a poorly 18 month old, woken up inconsolable with a cough and temp. We're watching his favourite show in bed and having a cuddle to calm him.
