Ive just got my DD (7) a kindle fire 8 for Xmas.
I like the fact you can set all sorts of limits on it and Amazon will replace for any reason within 2yrs. Haven't used it yet though obviously.

I had written loads more but lost it! I found the fire slow and quite heavy, abs tied to amazon App Store. I’m used to iPad but didn’t intend to spend that much on DD (I love her, but not that much!). Samsung was a good compromise - full Android App Store at an ok price. It also has a kids mode which limits access right down to kid safe apps which is really good.
