Looking for ideas for one year old birthday pressies. Any ideas of must have toys? Her favourite thing is empty plastic bottles?!?!?!

My son had this for his first birthday, they don't seem to do it in ELC now but something like it would be great. He loved it and so did all his baby friends.

I'd like to say a box of plastic bottles! Fill with different things, pasta, coloured rice, glitter water (glue the lids on!) etc etc.
We got DD a very small rocking horse. She still sits on it 8 years later and it was free with supermarket points!

DC1 got this activity cube www.amazon.co.uk/Battat-Wooden-Activity-Discover-Animals/dp/B07BF1V8K8?tag=mumsnetforu03-21
And something like a smart trike

I agree with loads of plastic bottles, she'll Iove it. Or one of those doll milk bottles where the milk dissapears. My two year old is obsessed with cleaning sponges at the minute and keeps opening and running away with mine so I'm gonna give him some for Xmas Grin

I don't usually buy toys for 1 year olds - my experience is they end up with shedloads and play with about 3 of them. Why play with the pile of expensive toys when you can play with a pack of wipes/remote/set of keys/toilet roll etc. hey? So I usually get something that the parents will appreciate e.g. a nice outfit you couldn't justify spending money on for your own child, a print for their nursery wall, bamboo plates and cutlery. Something useful or beautiful as William Morris said.

Busy board
Water table
Mini kitchen
Baby bike
Swing/slide
Keepsake/personalised items

Main present ideas, my DD by no means has all of these!

Thanks for these! Some lovely ideas. I might also buy a cheap real remote as she's not interested in the toy ones and is obsessed with real ones!

Board/cloth books.

DS has just turned one. His favourite thing to do is stand in his playpen and chuck balls over the side. So maybe a ball pit?

He also loves his activity tables tacking, stacking cups, shape sorter and wooden blocks. And any book where he can lift flaps

Ha, sounds like my DD! She loves empty shampoo bottles and putting the lids back on. DD turned one not so long ago and loves her wooden Noah's Ark toy which came with some wooden animals .We also got her a wooden toy train which she loves pushing around. Some 'fake' kitchen utensils went down a treat too! Although she is just as happy with a big wooden spoon and a mixing bowl! Big chunky crayons and paper, stickers and building blocks, a Mr Potatoe head are a few other good ones.
