Isolate until X date?

DS is isolating as there was a case in his school year. The email said that they have to isolate until Tuesday 27th. I’ve taken that to mean today is the last day of his isolation but he’s had messages from friends who’ve been let loose today as they assume isolation is over.

How would you interpret the wording? Whether I’m right or wrong we planned to stay in anyway so that’s what we’ll do because the weather is shit and I’m enjoying a duvet day Grin.

I would say tomorrow he can stop isolating .

dementedpixie · 27/10/2020 11:40

You could interpret it both ways. They should make it clearer tbh

InDubiousBattle · 27/10/2020 11:50

It can be interpreted both ways I suppose but I went out on the the day it said, so today on your son's case. If you said 'you can't open your present until your birthday' you would open it on your birthday? Mine said, 'you must self isolate until the 13th' so I stayed in until the 13th and went out then. I only went around the village for a walk so hardly high risk!

My DS is isolating after a case at school.
The message we got was to isolate til Thursday 4.30pm (outing!!)
Cos that one minute from 4.29pm will make all the difference?

IveSeenThings · 27/10/2020 12:08

Urgh - we have the same. I am going for the next morning for freedom tbh.
The weather is the utter pits today- definitely a stay-in day Smile
I was a nob and put off my run, and I got soaked when I went out- it's that horrible drizzle that soaks you through.

NotExactlyHappyToHelp · 27/10/2020 13:40

@Em3978 Blimey that is specific. I’d be lining him up on the edge of the drive and shouting ready steady go at 4.30 on the dot.

@IveSeenThings It’s vile isn’t it?! I got absolutely sopping on my (solo) dog walk.

@NotExactlyHappyToHelp I think we might do that!!

Mumtumwobble · 27/10/2020 15:42

I would take it the same as you OP, but if the pupils don’t have symptoms by today I highly doubt they’ll wake up with them in the morning. I think the school should have been clearer though as it could be easily be interpreted both ways.

RosieLemonade · 27/10/2020 16:17

Does it really matter for one day?

NotExactlyHappyToHelp · 27/10/2020 16:22

@RosieLemonade No I don’t suppose it does in the grand scheme of things. I was just curious if my interpretation was the same as others.

I suppose it might matter if I got it wrong and got fined for it.
