Just wondering if you run a cafe/restaurant - What has your take up been like for these?
Or, have you had one yourself?

I cannot believe that BJ and his bunch of slimy sidekicks voted against subsidising this.

I know there will be threads on this but are people taking private businesses up in their kind offers?

We have had 2 per day so far and are in a London Borough that has high levels of poverty. We are offering a hot meal or take away option. I think people are embarrassed to come in and ask!

LolalovesLondon · 28/10/2020 08:04

I thought that. Or those in dire need just can’t access/ don’t know about it 😓

I'd be interested to know this too. We own a café in Greater Manchester and instead of offering free meals, we've donated supermarket vouchers to our local school to distribute as appropriate as I could think of a number of reasons why people might not want, or be able to ask for a free meal in a café.

It’s upsetting Boglins
The supermarket voucher idea is good but
I know that those in most need are often missed. Even by schools.
There are children on the pupil premium registers who will be helped but how do we reach the ones who don’t ask for help.
I really hope that people go into the places offering meals. I really do.

It is upsetting, I hate to think of people, and especially children, going hungry in a supposedly developed country.

Hopefully there is such a variety of offers at the moment that the majority of people will be reached in one way or another.

Its upsetting but a lot of families go to great lenghths to hide their PP status. It can be really hard to get parent to sign up in schools and within school we dont know unless we need to. Sadly some people are very judgemental and parents try to avoid that unecessary judgement. So i can see that uptake would be low. Something anonymous would be so much easier for someone to access. Or something universal.
