M&S sponge cake, toffee flavour, buttercream in the middle.
Where did it go?
Was it just a dream?

Yes!!! I remember M&S toffee cake. It was gorgeous.

The nearest that I can find is the sticky toffee roll, but it’s just not the same Grin

Was it an oblong cake? I miss the circular chocolate cornflake cake they used to do in the 80s.

Yes, I seem to recall it being called a caramel cake. It was a smallish round cake the one I'm thinking of. Did it have a dusting of icing sugar on the top? It was lovely whatever it was called though!

No but I remember M&S takeaway tuna melt sandwiches with cheese on top. Best sandwich ever but they've not done them for years Haloween Sad

They used to do gorgeous baked potato & butter flavour crisps. I know crisps are made of potato but these really tasted like crispy spud skin, butter & salt.

ThatScottishGirl · 26/10/2020 19:34

Oh it sounds lovely I love the little sticky toffee cakes that come in the 4 pack with the nuts on top.

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 26/10/2020 19:39

The toffee cake was circular and quite small. It was a staple in our house in the late 80s / early 90s.

That really was the best hot sandwich I have ever tasted.

My favorite was a Swiss Roll with apricot jam and butter cream but that was about 35 years ago

OMG these were the best crisps, I loved them and still miss them.

Also these pink grapefruit flavoured boiled sweets called Tinos. They were the nicest sweets ever.

They do a peach melba kind of swiss roll would that suffice?

Twinpeaksdancingman · 26/10/2020 21:46

Somethingnasty
That is it! Defo 80s/90s

Your actually killing me now with the ‘cornflake cake’

You just reminded me to Google a bugs bunny mousse I loved from m&s in the early 90s, I found it! Would never work now in plastic reduction times.

I never had that sandwich but in the late 90s they did a gorgeous tuna in red onion mayonnaise on tomato bread which was lovely.
