Really boring question: which child locks do you have on kitchen cupboards?

DS is into everything. I need child locks, but am reluctant to have keys lying about (he adores keys and will secrete them!) - any good recommendations?

Thank you!

I didnt use any, I just created a 'safe' cupboard and directed dc to play with the contents of that one instead. I did have a gate across the doorway to stop dc exploring the cat litter or food when I wasn't in there.

None. Put anything dangerous up high instead.

The magnetic ones are brilliant! You can't see them from the outside and just run the magnet over the corner of the cupboard door to open it. We installed them a few weeks ago and are very happy with them.

Oh, and the magnetic ones we got are stick-on (very strong) so no need to make holes.

Thanks, Homes! Where did you get them from? I see some on Amazon - do you recommend a particular brand?

Wine, I love the idea of a safe cupboard - the problem is, he soon tired of the ones he's allowed to go in, and has fixated on the cat food cupboard ...

We got them from Amazon and they were just like these:

www.amazon.co.uk/Baby-Safety-Magnetic-Cupboard-Locks/dp/B082KJPY67/ref=mp_s_a_1_9?dchild=1&keywords=magnetic+door+catches+for+cupboards&sprefix=magnetic+door&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&qid=1603704779&sr=8-9

We live in an open concept place so unfortunately any cupboards are fair game to our DS! We don't have any high up ones in the kicthen either, just under the counters, so these were a godsend for the dish/glass cupboard and under the sink.

He has however just figured out how to pull open drawers so we might need to put them on the gazillion drawers he has access to as well! Confused

I put magnetic ones on as pp suggested. Just don't lose the magnet or get a spare. I also had these type on double doors. Also a fridge lock.
It was with great joy I got out of the shower one morning to fine my 1yo and 3yo had emptied the entire contents of the freezer on the floor and nibbled some frozen fish fingers. Weirdly my 3yo had never done this before, but ds2 (now 4 so has grown out of it) is a little monkey.

Yes!! I've only had them a few weeks and I think I must have thrown away one of the magnets with some food waste I scooped up from the counter! Now we use the magnet holder and always keep the remaining one in the same place.

Thank you both so much - I've ordered some! Flowers
