Is it me or is it a bit creepy?

My MIL bought it saying it'll make me cry when reading it to the kids but I was a tad weirded out when she essentially broke into her son's house.

That book used to make me sob! My dc banned me from reading it Grin

Motherofmonsters · 25/10/2020 20:25

Did it!

Maybe I'm heartless, MIL always asks me if I cried at things like DS first day of Preschool and I didn't

We're all different! I cry at everything.

mommybear1 · 25/10/2020 20:30

I found it both creepy and sob worthy I read it twice and no more I totally understand the sentiment but Christ I can't keep crying at it 😉

Winterfellismyhome · 25/10/2020 20:34

Haha its so weird! Cute at the beginning though

Widebum · 25/10/2020 20:39

I cried! My son is 20 and I’ve kept the book along with a few others that I used to read to the children when they were small. Still weep if I read it now!

I think Robert munsch wrote this when his 2 of his babies were stillborn. On knowing this i fought back tears and hugged my babies a little tighter when reading it to them

I love you forever
I like you a lot
As long as I'm living
My baby you'll be

Yep,always make me teary!

Limpid · 25/10/2020 20:44

My SIL thinks it’s the most touching book ever for a mother with a son and gave me a copy when I had DS with teary, sincere eyes. I think anyone who thinks it’s anything other than sinister as hell has serious issues. I mean, the mother sneaks into his marital bed at night and rocks him. Ew.

FractionalGains · 25/10/2020 20:46

I think it’s a lovely idea and message but the specifics are indeed a bit fucked up!

That’s so sad about the author’s children. Adds a deeper meaning to “as long as I’m living my baby you’ll be”.
