Question about dog attacks (poss tw)

If you have a number of dogs, and one of them is attacked by others in the group and then dies at the vets, what happens?

Does this get reported? If so to who? Do I (distant relative) have to do anything?

Dog is owned by an elderly person who lives alone with dogs.

Hopeful bump

No the dog does not get reported.

Sadly this happens now and then and it’s up to the owners whether they feel like they can trust the dogs involved with other dogs going forward.

Thank you, they are making sure the other dogs are not left alone together (big cages, like the sleep ones)

I would also check with them if they know what started the fight and whether they can avoid that situation in the future. E.g. if it was over food the dogs get fed separately in their cages or different rooms.

They think that the dog that was killed was the alpha (even though the smallest)

It sounds like this person is perhaps unable
to manage the dogs, how many do they have?

How awful for the poor dog 😢. That would make me very worried.

Do they know which dog initiated the attack and why?
It would be a good idea to have the vet check them over, just in case they are injured or ill. Sore ears can cause otherwise stable dogs to lash out unexpectedly.
