Posted batteries in a parcel - what will happen?

I posted a parcel to my DC at Uni, with some Halloween decs inside, amongst other treats. They asked my at the Post Office if the parcel contained batteries and I said no.

Then later remembered that there is a little light with 2 x AA batteries.

Will they X ray it and destroy the parcel?

I doubt it, if a parcel has batteries in it I think all they do is put a sticker on it .

It's usually ok if within a device.It's loose batteries they don't like.
I've posted stuff with batteries (declared).Such as old phones.
I don't think anything is routinely x-rayed.

I occasionally work on a post office.
It's only lithium batteries that need to be declared and so long as they are in the device it doesn't require any additional labelling. You'll be fine. Xx

I've no idea if parcels are x-rayed, but why on earth do you think that would destroy the parcel? Checked in laptops etc on airlines are routinely X-rayed with no ill effects.

Nothing! Other than your parcel will be delivered. Hopefully the recipient will love it.

Guilt is making me catastrophise!

Because I assumed the battery question was about terrorism or fear of explosions,, same as the question at the airport. I didn't think the X ray would destroy the parcel, I meant a controlled explosion of DC's Halloween light up pumpkin.
