To love watching foreign news, even if I can't understand it.

I regret not traveling more so like a proper saddo I now watch YouTube and watch foreign news, a different country each night as I cook. I like imagining that I'm in the country.
Anyway it's so interesting watching different countries views on world news, it's surprisingly easy to work out the jist of it even if I don't understand the language. Does anyone else do this?

What a wonderfully bizarre thing to do. I think I love you.

I’m with you! I particularly miss Julian Bugier read the news on France 2 (so hot). Check him out!! 😁

Yes I regularly watch the Arabic tv news channel. I know some words as I know some Turkish which has some Arabic in it and the rest I guess if it is international news then I have seen in English already. I just love languages. I also listen to Punjabi channels and Urdu. Funnily enough my mum used to watch the Welsh tv when I was growing up and swear she could follow it lol.

I love watching BBC Alba. Can understand two words, agas and cuideachd, and absolutely nothing else, but I find Scottish Gaelic very relaxing to listen to.

This made me ☺, my family think it's an endearing slightly batty aspect of my character. PollyPelargonium52 I like Turkish news the best, don't understand a word but feel like I do. Paris14eme not seen him, I love seeing what is 'news suitable' the look and clothes of the presenter.

I love doing this in hotel rooms and noticing the different approaches to news by cultures. :)

I am a little bit in love with you too, just the right side of eccentric. You love my job... I'm a translator and have to copy edit carton boxes in Bulgarian, Greek, Arabic, Hebrew...and English. I can't understand a word but in my next life I'm going to be a code cracker.

I like watching the foreign channels on Kodi. Mostly for the adverts. Its weirdly cosy thinking of people watching TV around the world in their homes.

Try the Radio Garden app too. It lets you listen to radio around the world. I like the South American stations during the winter as the music makes me feel like I'm somewhere hot.

I’m 10000000% with you on this! I’ve also started reading other countries newspapers online (in English of course) and I’ve always listened to the Africa Today podcast on the BBC.

Perhaps we need to feel psychologically connected to the world more so than ever with the world as it is now, or maybe we’re just trying to get away from Brexshit and Johnson - either way I’m with you OP.

I’m with you on this, it’s fascinating. My OH watches news channels (and dramas) from various countries as he speaks a few languages and I watch too even though I don’t have a clue what they’re saying. Also love doing this in hotel rooms!
