Adverts have spoiled poetry/spoken word.

I feel like I've the past decade or more a more modern version of standard poetry voice has emerged. It's often accented and has this singy song cadance to it. When I first heard this poetry spoken word I thought it was refreshing. I'm thinking of Kay Tempest for example.

But now I feel like every other advert uses poetry or spoken word in this way. So it's just become cliche and it's kinda spoiled spoken word for me. I just cringe when I hear it. I'm thinking of the nationwide adverts for example. But many borrow heavily from this style.

YANBU. I really hate the Coke one- “open like never before”. What has any of it got to do with bloody coke anyway??

I quite like rap, the more independent stuff. So did used to like spoken word more. But I honestly think adverts have ruined it for me. Yes the coke one! Urgh. It's just a fizzy drink!
