Birthday suggestions, please . . . ?

Hello! I'm hoping MNers can help me out with suggestions for a birthday treat for a friend. I'm really struggling to think of something that meets all the "criteria", which are:

  1. If it's during the day, I need to bring 10 month old DD (evenings are fine as DH will be home)
  2. Must be permitted by tier 2 lockdown rules
  3. Friend has some food issues so going for lunch/dinner/afternoon tea isn't really a treat for her
  4. She doesn't like outdoors activities or sporty things

I'd love to arrange something lovely for her but I'm stumped Sad

I would ask her and see what she wants to do. I think a lot of people are worried about being out and about at the moment so she might just prefer a night in with a movie and good company Smile

Sadly we can't even do something so simple, @LagneyandCasey - we can't mix households indoors in tier 2.

I think the best thing we can do is meet in a beer garden somewhere and shiver our way through lunch Sad

Sorry I didnt think about the restrictions Sad. Wrap up warm, enjoy your drink and chat about plans for her next Birthday when the world is in a better place 🤞

Would she enjoy a 'FaceTime/zoom' evening? Either just you two or with other friends as well? You could all just chat/watch a movie/play a board game/whatever'.

Given the current options I'd quite enjoy that if it was my birthday.

There's nowhere I want to go to & I don't want to 'eat out' even outside. Too many hospitality staff are being made to work even when they should be isolating.

Contact transmission might be low, but not going is still lower & my current choice!

Oh we'll definitely chat about what we'll do when the world goes back to "normal" - or the "new normal" or whatever it is that means we get our freedoms back Sad

I agree though about trying to lower risk; I do not want to catch this virus as I have a 10 month old. I don't think my friend would be keen to celebrate by Zoom - working from home means video calls all day every day.

It's just so bloody rubbish, isn't it? I was hoping to think of something special to do with her as she's had a tough time lately, but there's nothing. Bah.
