The value or the thought.

I have just read a thread about giving the Mil a key ring as part of her birthday presents, this came mostly from DGs.
In my opinion this Mil is cold hearted.
Every present I have received over the years whether it's from my DC or my DGC I have appreciated.
Too me I don't care how much they spend it's the thought that counts to me.
When one of my DGDs made a plant pot holder she said she knows it's rubbish but Nana will love it and I do
it has pride of place on my window sill.
Over the years my DC have paid a lot of money for different presents but I think it's the gifts that pocket money could buy
I love the most.
Do you think about the value of the present or the love that's gone into giving.

Taat. No one who hasn't already commented on the other thread has the vaguest clue what this other DGM did surely? Or what kind of keyring it was.

So keyring with a photo of the kids, or one they made Vs a free from some publicity drive. Polite smile but clearly unhappy Vs throwing it across the room and screaming.

In general yes it's the thought but only if it's clear there was thought

I thought the key ring had a quote on which was personal between the Mil and the DGs.
