Shark or Miele vacuum? I can't decide

Our Dyson of 11 years has died (finally) and I have £250 to spend on a new vacuum. I've narrowed it down to a shark lift away or a miele (not sure which model). Three kids and a dog to contend with and both hard and carpeted floors. Help!

*I hoover the areas we walk through nearly every day, not in the corners and under the sofa btw!

Miele cat and dog here. It's brilliant. I got one as was inspired by a friend who had had hers for over 15 years. It's fab

I chucked my crap Dyson upright and bought a Miele c3 and it’s great. I sew a lot so it also has to pick up all the tiny bits of thread that fall on the floor of my sewing room.

You have to replace bags with the Miele but it’s still worth it for me.

I’ve actually just bought a robot hoover to use downstairs in the open plan area to keep the annoying dog hairs at bay, otherwise I’d be vacuuming in there every other day and I really hate cleaning.

I love my miele. I would never buy anything else. I thought it had packed in the other day and I actually wept, then started looking at ordering a new one. It just needed emptying. I've had it ten years.

Oh heavens. Stuck between a rock and a hard place in my book. I had 2 Miele cat and dog. Motor blew on both. I had a shark. It's a delicate little flower. Constantly gets blocked and over heats

I’ve got a shark lift away with the anti hair wrap thing, which we bought to replace a useless Dyson (that, to be fair, I chose because I like the colour, rather than its cleaning ability). It’s ok. Not as amazing as I thought it would be. I prefer borrowing my mum’s old Henry.

I’ve had both plus a Dyson and now have a Sebo which is better than any of them

I have the miele pet version, it is brilliant. It is the 2nd one I have had in 18 years, the 1st one the builders used to clear up the rubble even though I had hidden it so they wouldn't use it Hmm

I did try a Dyson in between and thought it was totally crap tbh.

Miele cat and dog.

I tried a shark and sent it back the next day.
