I want to help.

I'm so saddened by the thought of children going without at the moment and want to do something within the community to help.
My local Fb is full of unwanted clothes posts that our baby bank is too full to take.
Is there anything stopping me collecting coats and wellies locally and setting up some sort of warm clothes giveaway in a pub car park so that anybody in need can come and collect a coat for free?
I feel like I need to ask permission or something but not really sure where to start.

Anybody got any suggestions?

I think you need to be very careful about doing this.... are people really like to turn up in a car park to receive a 'free coat'. I know you mean it kindly but I volunteer with many vulnerable people and it can be quite patronising to offer 'second hand, free stuff'.

Maybe organise something like a 'Freecycle' so that people can donate items and others can choose what they like .... we have done this on occasions but to honest were then left with mountains of stuff that no one wanted .... we then had a problem disposing if it.

I'm worried about the whole patronising thing.

I almost want it to be like a pop up shop type thing where people can browse but I'm not sure I can take money for it legitimately so that's why it has to be free.

There's just so many posts on groups for free clothes and all the proper channels of distribution seem overloaded.

There's an idea in this somewhere, it just has to be pitched right I think.

Thankyou for your feedback.
