Subject Access Request from current employer

Hi. Am in a horrible situation where I cannot get on with my boss.

I love my job and am very good at it but she always seems to put me down and take credit for my ideas. I found out today that she said something completely untrue and has made some comments that will derail how I am viewed to a big detriment.

Can I apply for a SAR whilst still working? Am guessing my employer would take a very dim view of this but I feel strongly there will be email examples of bullying that a SAR will disclose.

What do you plan to do with it? It sounds as if you should be raising a grievance. Are you a union member? If not, maybe ACAS can advise you. I don't think a SAR is the right way to go unless you plan to take action in the form of a grievance, it would not benefit you that I can see.

I guess it’s to prove what I think I know and because if I do a grievance she will deny...

I don't think this will prove anything as there are exemptions for personal data of others.

But - if you get it Op, what do you plan to do with it? Are you going to take it to someone to show that she lied? If you want to complain about someone at work lying about you and bullying you then you'll need to raise a grievance. There are exemptions, but this doesn't sound like it would be exempt to me (having dealt with a few requests). You do the request, see what comes back. If you think information has been wrongly withheld you can raise it with the ICO. They ask to see all of the unredacted information and decide if it was correct or not. But... just doing this to have a bit of paper to wave is probably pointless.
