Is this normal?

My 7 year old DS insists on sleeping with 2 double duvets. He sleeps in a single bed and refuses to get in bed unless he has both of his duvets. It genuinely stresses him out if he doesn't have both double duvets. All through summer we had several bed time arguments about him overheating in the night but I hate seeing him upset so he normally sleeps with both duvets. My other kids just sleep with one single duvet. I normally get hot in the night so I sleep with one duvet, unless it is winter and then I might use two. Is this a normal thing? Or is my son just strange Grin

It might be a sensory thing and the weight of the duvets. I remember sleeping with a really thick tog when I was younger, not because I was cold but I loved the weight of it. Have you considered a weighted blanket for your son?

My DD did this (she's 12 now). I think it's to do with the weight...I swapped the top duvet for a heavy but thinnish eiderdown thing and once she's asleep, if it's warm weather, I just pull it off.

Yes, I did get him a weighted blanket but he says it's heavy, not warm so he doesn't really use it and we just use it on the sofa.
