Mine won’t be to everyone’s taste at all, but we bought a wall mounted electric fire.

I absolute adore it - it’s thin enough to be unobtrusive, works in our modern home without fireplaces etc, and makes my room feel oh so perfect for autumn and winter.

I’ve had it two weeks and still love it!

Old fashioned pressure cooker :) not at all scary, didnt cost much and nothing electrical to learn or go wrong

supercee · 23/10/2020 20:01

Also a Lavazza milk frother and a Nespresso machine. I love them so much.

krustykittens · 23/10/2020 20:10

DH bought me a print from an artist I have admired for a long time as an anniversary gift. I love it. I bought myself a cheap second hand camera during lock down as I have wanted to try photography for a long time and I am having fun with it.

Pbbananabagel · 23/10/2020 20:13

A new backdoor, it’s genuinely changed my life as I can now get in and out with the pram so much more easily (front door is raised with a weird lip bit so it’s a real struggle).

BlackeyedSusan · 23/10/2020 20:20

Exercise bike.

beexcellenttoeachother · 23/10/2020 20:22

Nice bedding

All brilliant choices - love them.

I don't think I bought anything memorable this year, but i used up yarns from all over the world.
Finished a pullover with yarn from Canada and Hungary. A dress with yarn from last year's Ravelry festival
a cardigan with yarn from hungary, but bought here in small Richmond store.
another pulli with yarn form northern italy from 2 years ago.
And a tee with some us yarn.

All through knitting and then wearing they remind me of the fab places I've been to in the past few years. They bring a soft, fuzzy feeling and a smile every time :)

My fire - cable still to be sorted, but isn’t it lovely?

Wine.
We had decided to do a wine tasting course for our 50th birthdays this year, and got 3 out of 6 classes in before lockdown. That was the whites, which we both prefer anyway, so we've been working our way through everything we can find ever since. Going back when the college starts running evening courses again.

And new bedclothes. My favourites are bright yellow with funky sheep on them.

devildeepbluesea · 23/10/2020 20:29

My Shakti mat
The Fethering crime series on Audible - 19 books so far. I spent a fortune on extra credits.

Zaphodsotherhead · 23/10/2020 20:30

Toss up between a lovely fluffy rug to go under my feet on the tiled floor of my living room and the rose arch in the garden.

But I've not long moved in and can't stop spending money on the house. Please stage an intervention to stop me from buying all those bloody Christmas magazines..

Magpiefeather · 23/10/2020 20:32

New wellies! I have struggled in with slightly too tight, a little bit leaky wellies for YEARS. Very daft as we live rurally and do lots of muddy walks so the wellies get a fair bit of use. I’ve just replaced them with Decathlon’s (cheaper) take on Aigle wellies, and the difference is INCREDIBLE. I have warm, dry, comfy feet!!! Went for a walk the other day and practically skipped the whole way. Just brill.

Also waterproof trousers for everyone. I’m determined we will keep doing just as many fun outdoor activities this winter whatever the weather.

But really the best thing I’ve bought this year is my very first house Grin

Eufy the Robovac and a Yum Asia rice cooker. Someone else sweeping up after the dogs, and near perfect sushi rice. Bliss.

Chairlove · 23/10/2020 20:43

Laser hair removal. I will be hair free in another 3 sessions. Lockdown bathing

loubieloo4 · 23/10/2020 21:28

A new bed, cost us a fortune but has been amazing, I can actually go to bed with dh when he has his chemo bottle attached to him as I'm so far away from him there is no chance of me catching it, and as an added bonus I can no longer feel him tossing and turning in bed like a ice skating giraffe 😂

It's super king, so we had to buy all new bedding, quilt, curtains etc.

Entrant6 · 23/10/2020 21:44

Probably going to be a private Vit D test. Was shocked to discover at the end of the summer (lots of time spent outside with arms out) that I was deficient.
On high strength supplements now.
If I get through this winter without my usual 2 horrible colds that wipe me out for a couple of weeks then it £30 well spent.

Twospaniels · 23/10/2020 21:46

A caravan!
We planned to get one next spring but brought it forward a year, so we have had some lovely weekends away, not necessarily far from home. Make sure we have everything we need and can still be shielding from anyone else but enjoying a change of scenery at the same time.

onlyfortonight · 23/10/2020 21:46

An above ground swimming pool so we could continue swimming through lockdown. With a filter and heater. I cut up an old wetsuit and used some bungee cords to keep us tethered to one end while we swam. It was used everyday by the kids and around 3 times a week by me, but it kept us fit and really improved my back, arm and shoulder strength! It is away now, but it will come out again in spring, lockdown or not.

Otherwise, a weighted blanket. I sleep under it every night and my sleep quality has massively improved. It seems to stop my anxiety dreams.

Coldwinds · 23/10/2020 21:47

Hands down - paddle board. Saved my sanity through all this chaos.

I'm actually in love with our new fridge freezer bought just before lockdown. I don't think I've ever been as smitten with a kitchen appliance.
