My husband is in hospital and the whole ward is humming these lyrics but they don't know where they come from

Can Mumsnet help put them out of their misery

It's something like

La de da - fiddly Dee Dee

Not much to do on.. I'm thinking old popular 60s / film

Help

Nothing nursey rhyme

Not sure if this will work (display) but imagine a score it goes like

..................... ..........fiddly dee dee
.........dee
laa .............dar

The laa dee dar is sung first

It’s not Mockingbird Hill is it? Goes something like 🎵 La da da diddly dee dee it gives me a thrill/To wake up in the morning on Mockingbird Hill 🎵

Zaphodsotherhead · 23/10/2020 12:06

Not much help I know but when I worked in a school we spent one whole YEAR unable to get away from 'Bibbetty Bobbetty Boo.'

Have you raked through some of the old Disney films?

hollyandkit · 23/10/2020 12:16

Not Rockin' Robin? Lots of twiddle diddle dees in that!

Zizzagaaaaahttss · 23/10/2020 13:13

Nope
Neither of those either!

Enb76 · 23/10/2020 13:18

can you put tumpty's in where the other bits of rhythm are marked so..

tum tumpty fiddle dee dee

tum tumpty dee

etc....

Zizzagaaaaahttss · 23/10/2020 13:46

It's as is written above - no breaks

la de dar maybe lar, (down a note), de (down a note) dar (down a note) then higher on the same note fiddly dee dee

B A G DDD (piano)

sorry I'm not being much help
Maybe I should just give up

'Get ready' by the Temptations has fiddle dee something in the chorus

Clawdy · 23/10/2020 15:57

It really does sound like Mockingbird Hill - the version by the Migil Five.

Zaphodsotherhead · 23/10/2020 16:14

@Enb76

can you put tumpty's in where the other bits of rhythm are marked so..

tum tumpty fiddle dee dee

tum tumpty dee

etc....

This is one of the funniest things I've read all day! Think I might spend the rest of my afternoon saying 'can you put tumpties in...'
Zizzagaaaaahttss · 23/10/2020 19:51

Lol yes @ tumpties

It's not the temptations either

I don't have much to go on. I thought when I heard the Jackson's and mocking bird hill that you'd cracked it, but apparently not. The ward is full of oldies so I could be old

OP posts:
Clawdy · 23/10/2020 22:43

But the Migil 5 version of Mockingbird Hill is different! Try it!

Enb76 · 24/10/2020 08:20

Well, after pondering if for a long time I just got a whole bunch of parody Irish songs in my head and was finally left with Rickety Tickety Tin.

So, thank you for that 😐
