Coffee machine for single cup of coffee

dingdang · 22/10/2020 19:56

I'm looking for recommendations for a small coffee machine which I can set up in my bedroom to make a cup of coffee before I face the day! Been looking on Amazon but not really sure what would be best. I only drink black coffee so no need to faff around with milk/sugar. Would a pod type machine work or can anyone recommend something they use? If it had a timer that would be even better.... thanks

When I have stayed in hotels in Swiss they have mini nespresso machines which work a treat. Fill up at the back. Pod in and hit the button. Will see if I can share a link

Nespresso. No mess. Just add water every couple of days. This is what high end hotels put in rooms for guest use so it seems to fit the bill.

Nespresso machine every time. They come in a range of sizes but we have the smallest model that we use in our tiny caravan.

Exactly what eurochick said

Idoknowwhatyoumean · 22/10/2020 20:10

I know someone who sticks a spoon on instant in one of these ready for it to make black coffee in the morning
Teasmade

If you prefer filter (washable so no papers)
notimer

I’m starting to think I will have to pick a coffee maker for myself

I'd just have a cafetiere and a small kettle, I love black coffee.

dingdang · 22/10/2020 20:40

Looks like nespresso is the top recommendation. I don't want a kettle in my bedroom nor the faff of prepping/cleaning out a cafetière.

Thanks to all for recommendations

Dh bought a nespresso mini for our caravan, from Curry's because it was on special offer. He says he's most pleased with it.

I got one from morrisons that I have in my bedroom. It even comes with a travel cup and makes just one cup full. Best £15 I ever spent.

tootyfruitypickle · 22/10/2020 20:59

Nespresso is great , it’s made my life much more content having one!! I’ve just got the cheapest one- the assistant said they’re all the same you just pay more for the design. Definitely recommend.

GreasyFryUp · 22/10/2020 21:07

You can get electric Moka pots. No Nespresso pod waste, use whatever ground coffee you fancy, not as bulky as a machine.

Brahms3rdracket · 22/10/2020 22:24

Aeropress makes delicious coffee using your choice of beans/ground coffee without the expense of pods. Pods usually aren't recyclable and are really wasteful.

eurochick · 23/10/2020 08:55

Nespresso will collect the pods for recycling.

Thanks to all - I found a Tassimo machine on sale for £29 - picking up at lunchtime today. Fresh coffee in bed in the morning tomorrow!!!

OP posts:
CrunchyNutNC · 23/10/2020 10:42

OP a Tassimo might be different pods to the Nespresso ones so I'd check before you commit. Someone I know asked for a nespresso for christmas and got a tassimo, but it did a smaller range of pods and they're a totally different size to nespresso (think it was only kenco coffee she could use). The tassimo machine seemed more geared to hot chocolates, cappuccinos etc rather than proper coffee...

dingdang · 23/10/2020 10:50

I've ordered a variety pack of black coffee tassimo pods so will try them all out and work out which one is best...

And here's the set up, looking forward to my coffee in bed tomorrow morning!!!

Do you have Terracycle collection points near you for your pods? many local councils can’t accept the pods for recycling.
Our nearest one is 80 miles away!

What about an alarm clock drink maker

CrunchyNutNC · 25/10/2020 07:21

Looks good OP Smile

I’m blessed with an early riser. My daughter woke at 5am this morning! Coffee in bed was very much needed...
