"Carbs are life."

@fatherliamdeliverance, I think I'm going to have to get a t-shirt made with this on it.

I'm in the pasta camp mainly, though can also easily demolish any number of slices of bread if the butter is spread thickly enough.

TwoZeroTwoZero · 22/10/2020 19:33

@Sexnotgender

Mmm, Camembert... no bacon though as vegetarian.
I don't like Camembert but I've found some really nice fake bacon by a company called it's or that's (I can't remember!). They sell it in tesco and is better than the Quorn stuff.

Pie. Mash. Veg and gravy . We cheat and buy our pies DH just had chicken and ham and I've had mushroom and kale .

Yesterday had lasagne, sweet potato fries , salad and garlic bread

I'm missing some proper puddings , we've only got ice cream and yoghurt.

Going to read through everyone else's yummy meals now.

There's a cafe near my office that does a full English jacket potato. Baked beans, fried egg, bacon, sausage, mushrooms and hash brown all on top of a buttery jacket potato.

I've tried it once, made it half way through and just wanted to spend the afternoon sleeping but it was good. Their other real winner is the roast pork melt, a sandwich with 3 bread layers, freshly roasted pork joint in big slices, stuffing, apple sauce, cheese and spring onion. Griddled in butter and served with a chunk of crackling.

Cauterize · 22/10/2020 19:57

I've been known to have a pizza sandwich Blush

MsFenellaFielding · 22/10/2020 20:01

Lowering the tone a bit now but has anyone listened to the Dear Joan and Jericha podcast?

One of the episodes mentions the sacred triangle to guarantee sleep - huge amount of pasta, bottle of wine and masturbation. All steps to be followed.

However, for me tonight it's a large bowl of freshly booked tatties from the garden with loads of salt and butter plus wine. Followed by a lemon tart.

Pastry is so important.

ImEatingVeryHealthilyOhYes · 22/10/2020 20:02

Cauterize a guy I knew at university ate a Tesco value (blue stripe Grin) pastie in Tesco value bread as a sandwich twice a day for a whole term. He was still in full health at the end! That’s the resilience of a 19 year old body.

Cost him about 30p a day

Peachypips78 · 22/10/2020 20:13

@Ylfa it doesn't 100% cure me unfortunately- I also take Lamotrigine amongst other things 😂

Yaaassssss crusty bread with Camembert !

RJnomore1 · 22/10/2020 20:15

Ooooh a pizza crunch roll

Deep fried pizza in batter on a bread roll

Sexnotgender · 22/10/2020 20:24

Deep fried pizza is amazing. 1/2 pizza supper, salt and sauce ❤️❤️

Lighthousekeeper27 · 22/10/2020 20:24

Really Interesting to read about posters experiences of carbs being good for anxiety, I have suspected the same recently, I think I'll have to put it to the test properly after this thread and up my carb intake Grin

Twinkie01 · 22/10/2020 20:27

We used to have sugar sandwiches at my grandmas house.

Shop bought shitty white bread, loads of butter and piled with sugar, squish in half and scoff.

Left over Yorkshire drenched in golden syrup, paupers pudding but bloody lovely.

Ylfa · 22/10/2020 20:36

Mother of fuck I’m SO hungry right now. Is there any sort of cake you can make with very limited ingredients? I’ve got only really got sugar.

I'm doing a weird shift tonight, so lunchtime is coming up, pondering what carbfest I can make in my lunch hour Grin

MsFenellaFielding · 22/10/2020 20:51

I saw a beautiful thing on FB earlier.

Yorkshire pudding filled with shepherd's pie with a cheesy crispy top and a thick gravy.

Beautiful ❤.

DH has just come back from shopping and has made me a potato gratin and also put some jacket spuds in the oven. That's my carbs sorted for today and tomorrow!

Oh my.

I love potato gratin.

AyDeeAitchDee · 22/10/2020 21:01

If I didn't act like a grown up my food in an ideal day would be this:

Early morning - coffee and a pain au chocolat

Breakfast - white toast with real butter

Lunch - huge white bread sandwich with cheese and onion filling and salad. Maybe with some chips to carb it further.

Dinner - pizza or pasta (with garlic bread)

Carbs are the best.

Pikachubaby · 22/10/2020 21:03

Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson says : carbs are your friends

Can’t disagree

I eat carbs with every meal, potatoes are my favourite food

Pikachubaby · 22/10/2020 21:05

“ Carbohydrates are thought to increase the amount of serotonin in your brain, which has a calming effect. “

It’s scientific

Yogawithmydog · 22/10/2020 21:09

Sourdough bread
Fresh proper baker croissants or pain au chocolat
Pasta with any form of melted cheese (and a load of black pepper)
Full on macaroni and cheese, preferably with some salty bacon bits too
Potato dauphinois
Sweet potato fries or mash
Any kind of crumble and custard. Really don't care what fruit is under the crumble, in fact don't even bother just give me a whole bowlful or crumble topping with proper custard

Sexnotgender · 22/10/2020 21:30

DH went out earlier and brought me breakfast ❤️

Carbs are amazing
Ketopenguin · 22/10/2020 21:33

KETOOO!!!!

Iamthewombat · 22/10/2020 21:38

I just read this as ‘crabs are amazing’ 😂 I was hoping for some great crab facts.

It’s not too late. Anyone with good crab facts, post them now. I, too, am avid to hear them.

Blankiefan · 22/10/2020 21:38

I fucking love carbs. They definitely chill me out. Or maybe they sedate me...

Either way- I feel a strong need for them in these bat shit crazy times.
