@lazylinguist

I was completely on board with you, until I read pulses????

I'm a fan. Hummus, falafels, dhal. Yum.

Yup. So good.

@BunTooti

Carbs are amazing. I'm low carbing Sad .
Solidarity!!!

I have to LC to control my diabetes without medication. It's even more important now more than ever for me not to fall off the wagon, it sucks.

Stay strong!

Pie (cheesy mushroom or a deep country pie), mash and veg with loads of really thick gravy is my favourite meal. I save half the gravy so I can soak it up with 2 slices of white bread afterwards. The best part of the pie is the pastry btw.

I love fish and chips (but not with gravy, curry sauce or mushy peas 🤢) in a buttered white breadcake.

I can eat a whole tube of pringles and not regret it.

Yep. Carbs are good for my mental health too! Apparently it's the seratonin. Low carb really affected my mood.

I try and stick to whole grain carbs but I love them and I don't care Grin

And I have lost a stone recently!

fatherliamdeliverance · 22/10/2020 15:31

I am doing mushroom lasagne for tonight and crispy roast baby potatoes with a shitload of garlic. God I can't wait. Carbs are life.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 22/10/2020 15:32

Cheapish sausages with no 'meat lumps' in them... fried chips and fried egg... with a little dish of baked beans on the side and a piece of bread and butter for dipping in the egg. Perfection for me. Grin

Why didn’t I know this?! Did I know this? I’m happy to know it now. Maybe I can ditch the lithium* for more pasta 😋

*forgotten whether lithium is serotonergic or not, maybe not by itself, maybe it needs carbs 😀

I love carbs and fat like a mother loves their child Grin

I remember eating at the Hotel Chocolat restaurant in Leeds years ago, and I had the most amazing macaroni cheese and garlic mushroom pie. It was awesome.

My favourite dinner would be lasagne, chips and garlic bread. However carbs and fat do not love my waistline, so I have to be a bit careful.

A big Greek pita with falafel and yoghurt sauce

eurochick · 22/10/2020 16:23

Sourdough. Mmmm. I had sourdough cheese on toast for lunch today.

I'm getting ads for intermittent fasting diets in the middle of this thread.

Ylfa · 22/10/2020 16:26

There was a depressing study about intermittent fasting and loss of lean mass recently ☹️ I don’t ‘do’ IF on purpose but my natural (lazy cook) pattern is often to eat one massive meal over the course of an hour or two then inadvertently fast the rest of the time.

Aaah food porn!

Pasta pesto with anchovies and cheese.

Chips and cheese.

I've never met a carb that couldn't be made better with cheese.

ikeairgin · 22/10/2020 17:05

Mmmmmm carbs.

I cycle so I can carb.

I gave up smoking 4 weeks ago so I've given myself a free pass at the moment. Today it's been beans on toast, soup and seedy sourdough and ff and chips for tea. Lovely

Desmondo2016 · 22/10/2020 17:07

After years of vlcd the sheer amazement every lunchtime of making a sandwich still blows me away. A sandwich. So basic yet soooo good!

HoxtonBonnet · 22/10/2020 17:16

Delia Smith pasta bake with leeks and bacon yummmm. Chicken pie and mash or a big plate of risotto. Gnocchi with a load of black pepper and Parmesan.

Thecurtainsofdestiny · 22/10/2020 18:42

I have used left over pasta to fill a pie crust... Pasta pieSmile

Ylfa · 22/10/2020 18:47

That’s next level carbing- you are goals curtainsofdestiny

I’ve had a very small beer and a packet of crisps - hasn’t really done the job tbh

Just bread bread bread for me

Baguette with ham and cheese
Baguette dipped into Camembert
Tiger bread loaf toast drenched in butter

Ylfa · 22/10/2020 18:59

Yes! Bread dipped into Camembert baked with BACON on top 😮

OP posts:
Sexnotgender · 22/10/2020 19:01

Mmm, Camembert... no bacon though as vegetarian.

WhistlersandJugglers · 22/10/2020 19:07

I'm in agreement with the poster who said a tayto cheese and onion crisp sandwich. I like mine with coleslaw. Also bagels and pastry make life worth living. I'm trying to lose weight but know I couldn't do keto for even a morning. I live in a hard to heat house, I need carbs.

MrsMaryBOOface · 22/10/2020 19:10

The anxiety thing is so true, also low carb can affect your sleep!
I lost a good amount of weight on a VLCD meal replacement diet, but my anxiety was triggered, and I barely slept a whole night in 6 months.

A year later and I've regained all the weight plus an extra stone for good measure Confused

CrunchyNutNC · 22/10/2020 19:14

Carbs are incredibly addictive aren't they. Apparently there was some experiment done with rats that showed that if they were addicted to cocaine and sugar then given the choice they'd have sugar.

Carbs make me fat, when I eat them I just can't stop Halloween Shock

MothershipG · 22/10/2020 19:29

I have a somewhat unhealthy relationship with carbs, never met one I didn't like, struggle with my weight all the time. It's part of my heritage...may I introduce you to Timpana, backed macaroni with extra eggs & cream in a pie, a Maltese specialty. Maltese bread is also to die for. Il-Ħobż tal-Malti
