Something strange just happened!

I'm sitting up in bed with my back against the wall, using my phone to read Mumsnet. As I'm looking at my phone screen, light starts moving across the screen and back again as if a lantern/light behind me is swaying back and forth. But there's nothing behind me, only the wall.

I feel a bit unnerved! How did that happen?

Migraines can sometimes cause visual disturbances (auras I believe they are called) even without an actual headache?

redskittleorangeskittle · 22/10/2020 00:11

Car driving down the road - headlights?

Dellatt · 22/10/2020 00:12

@Titsinknicks (I like your name!) I don't think so. It carried on for about 20-30 seconds.

@jennie0412 sorry for giving you chills!

Was it an ad? They can have that effect if its dark on your room.

svenwhen · 22/10/2020 00:12

Could it be a problem with your screen? The light you saw was caused by the pattern you made on the screen earlier?

Dellatt · 22/10/2020 00:15

@ThatDamnScientist I do actually get migraines but I recognise the signs and this isn't one of them.

@redskittleorangeskittle my room faces the garden so no passing traffic and is to the left of my bed. This was just like a light behind me was swinging - but there's only the wall behind me.

It's strange!

I don't know - perhaps a screen problem but it seems fine now.

Anyway - thank you all for suggestions.

Could it be like when light catches a ring or watch face and casts a bright spot on the walll? Could light from the phone have caught a ring/watch which produced a light spot on the wall you could then see reflected back in your screen?

Dellatt · 22/10/2020 10:16

I survived the night!

@SueGeneris I don't think so - that sort of light is sort of quick flashes. This was like continuous sweeps of light swinging across the screen and back again.
