What have I done to my foot?

Out walking earlier, foot is suddenly incredibly sore .

There’s no obvious injury, bruising, swelling but I’m struggling to walk on it . I can flex it and point it fine, can twist my ankle OK, but sole of foot, heel and ankle feel horrendously sore when I stand up, or try and put on shoes etc .

I’ve unfortunately broken that leg before and sprained it numerous times (dyspraxic) . It doesn’t feel broken to me, that’s a whole different level of pain, but equally it doesn’t feel right .

I’ve got it up on a cushion, and I’ve got strong painkillers, but what does it sound like I’ve done?

(GP surgery won’t handle musculoskeletal stuff - referred to a physio phone line instead, so won’t be able to get an appt with anyone)

Could be plantar fasciitis? It's agony, in the same places you describe.

Could it be arthritis? That is how mine started. Get it checked out.

I broke my foot without noticing once. I'd ask for an x-ray if I had serious foot pain again.

Can you stretch to a private osteopath appointment?

You're right GPs (and IME NHS physios) are hopeless for musculoskeletal stuff.

I've had PF, as someone up thread suggested. It is agony but it doesn't come on suddenly. I also displaced my cuboid bone, which was a similar pain and did come one suddenly. Osteo put it back and it was pretty much an instant cure, but you need a proper diagnosis, which unfortunately you're unlikely to get from a telephone referral.

Meantime, ice is my magic cureall for most lower limb problems. Whatever is causing the inflammation, ice will ease it.

Is it swollen?

foothurtlikehell · 21/10/2020 22:12

Not swollen at all no, just painful . I’m managing to hobble around the house but it’s very sore to weight bear . No pain on touching it or anything though .

Definitely can’t afford private sadly - will ice it and see how it goes . Hopefully it’s a bit better tomorrow - started so suddenly which is a bit weird . Fine one minute and not the next!
