Suitable for me and a 15 yo slightly fussy eater. Doesn’t like spicy food.

Google for restaurants in Lower Marsh - loads to choose from.

Or the Fire Station (just outside Waterloo Station)

And IIRC the cafe in the museum is pretty good anyhow

Depending on what kind of atmosphere you want we really enjoyed the Mercato food market, around 10/15 mins walk www.timeout.com/london/things-to-do/mercato-metropolitano

Cafe in museum GREAT. Lovely hot, home cooked food. Fuck tons of nice cakes.

Fire Station or Archduke between Waterloo and South Bank centre would be good for a non spice lover. Also Greensmiths or scooter cafe on lower marsh.

I do like the cafe in the museum itself but it can get crowded at half term

I would be tempted to walk to Borough Market or Mercato Metropolitano from there. You will have a lot of choice (even for fussy eaters) and will mean you can avoid having to eat from the same place but can sit together. Also Casa do Frango near Borough Market is lovely for Portuguese Piri Piri chicken and feels like a “nicer” more grown up nandos

Nue Ground

Their canteen! I still make their 'wartime pasty' which is basically peas and mint in puff pastry, bloody lovely it was too. (Except I make tiny ones, call them pea puffs, don't mention rationing and poncetastic the life out of them...)

The cafe in the IWM has absolutely delicious food, give it a try!

MrPanks · 21/10/2020 19:03

The Cut, right by Waterloo station has a Franco Manca that's just opened. The pizzas are lovely and great value. But there are loads of places around there if you don't fancy that. The cafe at IWM is great as pp's have said.

MayFayre · 21/10/2020 20:44

Thank you all. This is really helpful.

I don’t think the IWM cafe will be an option for lunch. We’ve booked an afternoon time slot, so I guess couldn’t go in beforehand to eat?

I'd check that out - it's how they make their money and I'm guessing they need that now

Larkin01 · 22/10/2020 00:06

I went to the IWM two weeks ago - their cafe is closed.

katy1213 · 22/10/2020 00:16

Don't count on Borough Market. All the food stalls were closed when I was there recently.

PercyKirke · 22/10/2020 00:24

If it's open, the Three Stags pub just up Lambeth Rd from the main entrance does good pub grub.

AestheticWitch · 22/10/2020 00:32

Chunnel on Lower Marsh, check out on TripAdvisor!

clipclop5 · 22/10/2020 03:30

Borough Market is fab but maybe not so much at the minute!
