Just wondering if anybody had any good remedies that stopped them from getting bad stretch marks during their pregnancy? And when did you start getting them?? I'm prone to them as already have them from teen years and have got a few more over last few years from weight gain. 20 weeks preg now and have some small ones on bottom of stomach.. i am using bio oil is anything better?? THANKS

I first noticed my stretch marks at 35 weeks (currently 39) there's small and dark and on my hips so not really noticeable. Again like you I'm prone to them to as I had them as a teenager. There's not much we can do unfortunately. However I do find if I keep my skin moist and hydrated the marks are less itchy I use palmers coco butter stretch marks lotion and bio oil. Seems to be working for me.

wannabebump · 21/10/2020 06:29

You can't stop then unfortunately. Keeping the skin hydrated does help with itchiness though.

I didnt get them but I think that just means I'm lucky/annoying. I did use bio oil daily.

They’re hereditary, so if you’re going to get them you’re going to get them. Creams/oils won’t prevent them, but they will soothe your skin.

I was lucky, I only have 1 which I got the day I gave birth! I noticed it in the midst of a massive contraction and I was not best pleased.

TeddyIsaHe · 21/10/2020 06:38

I didn’t use any creams on my bump at all, was too lazy to remember every day.

PolarBearStrength · 21/10/2020 06:38

I didn’t get them with my first and I was huge. Second time around and they started popping up all over the place at about 34 weeks. I’m doing all the same things and I’m slightly smaller this time!

Drawmelikeoneofyourfrenchgirls · 21/10/2020 07:23

I didn’t get them. I used bio oil and coco butter every day. I think it’s just your luck tho!

ShipOfTheseus · 21/10/2020 07:25

I never got any and I didn’t do anything to prevent it - no lotions and potions. It’s down to luck.

elQuintoConyo · 21/10/2020 07:26

I got them as a teen across my thighs and bum, didn't get any pregnant. Just luck of the draw, I think.

If you figure out a way to get rid of them, you'll make BILLIONS! Move over Bill Gates!

Annabanana455 · 21/10/2020 07:26

No stretch marks at all on my belly, but loads on my bum! Shock

ShirleyPhallus · 21/10/2020 07:27

Weirdly all my stretch marks from pregnancy disappeared about 2 months after the baby arrived

Very odd

FolkSongSweet · 21/10/2020 07:33

All the creams in the world won’t stop you getting stretch marks - it’s a genetic thing and just luck of the draw unfortunately. I had loads as a teenager but in my first pregnancy didn’t get any until after 40 weeks, then only got a few. I’m 38 weeks now and have got a few more already, but I know they’ll fade and frankly the baby is worth it.

NewMumOrpington · 21/10/2020 07:36

I hardly had any until labour then I got quite a few. I didn't know that was a thing and it came as a surprise. After 6 months they've faded to a silvery colour (they were a very angry purple to begin with).

jakor · 21/10/2020 07:59

It's hormonal too hence why teenagers get them. I randomly got a few along my bikini line at 3 months when I was barely showing but didn't get anymore.

CatsMother66 · 21/10/2020 09:56

I used coconut oil every day after a shower and didn’t get any. I don’t know if that worked or if I was just lucky

youngestisapsycho · 21/10/2020 09:58

Do the teenage ones fade/disappear? My DD14 is covered in them!

Fundays12 · 21/10/2020 09:59

I used baby oil twice a day over my bump, thighs and bum with all 3 pregnancies and never got them. I also used it when my bump started to get itchy.

noseresearch · 21/10/2020 10:03

They’re hereditary, so if you’re going to get them you’re going to get them. Creams/oils won’t prevent them, but they will soothe your skin.

On a side note, I still have the stretch marks left from when I was 12/13. Never faded away Angry

GirlCalledJames · 21/10/2020 10:04

Did nothing, not even moisturiser, didn’t get any. I don’t think there’s anything you can do to determine whether you get them.

Duemarch2021 · 23/10/2020 23:25

@Youngestisapsycho

I got them as a teen on my bum, inner thighs and back of legs and they all faded by the time i was about 16 or 17.. they went silvery coloured but can hardly see them at all xx

I just want to clarify that I know there's worse things to worry about in life and my baby already means everything to me so I don't care too much about getting them as baby is worth it.. but just posted as obviously if I can stop them then its always good to know how 😅 xx
