I've always had a soft spot but suspect they are naff....

Absolutely not naff

PegasusReturns · 20/10/2020 11:28

Some of the genuine ones are beautiful. I particular like the ones in blues and creams. I don’t think they’re naff just not to my taste.

The cheap reproductions are naff. I think reproductions are nearly always a bit naff I’m afraid.

OneForTheRoadThen · 20/10/2020 11:28

I love them.

Definitely not naff in the right setting.

PegasusReturns · 20/10/2020 11:29

This is very pretty I think.

Original Tiffany are wonderful. Repro are naff.

Bibidy · 20/10/2020 11:38

100% not naff, they're very pricey!

Personally I love them. I was debating getting some as pedant shades for the living room but can't get Pizza Hut out of my mind Smile. I think they work better as lamps.

VenusClapTrap · 20/10/2020 13:24

I secretly love them.

ohidoliketobe · 20/10/2020 13:26

Not naff with the right decor (I have a table lamp in my lounge so I hope not anyway Shock)

PluralPatty · 20/10/2020 13:38

Not naff in any way whatsoever, they are beautiful and timeless.

SnazzyHatchback · 20/10/2020 13:41

It's never occurred to me that are naff. Also reproduction ones are not made naff purely by the fact of being reproduction Confused what ridiculous snobbery

tinkerbellvspredator · 20/10/2020 13:44

Hope to get one at some point but I'm in a 1930s house so figure it would work as a period look.

Sgtmajormummy · 20/10/2020 13:56

We inherited a reproduction one from DH’s parents. I’ve always liked them as they remind me of DGM‘s hall pendant. She was of an age when they were the latest thing.
Knowing it was reproduction I packed it away and brought it out when we moved recently (1906 Liberty apartment). It looks the part on our entrance table with a low watt bulb at nighttime.

Here’s the dramatic bit...
I was out window shopping recently and saw a shop selling very similar lamps. “Reduced to €450” Shock. I was expecting half that!
I now treat it with a bit more respect!

duckme · 20/10/2020 14:01

My nan loved them, so they'll always be not naff to me.

SwedishEdith · 20/10/2020 14:04

I love them. The reproduction snobbery is insane - most people can't afford an original so a good similar-look one is fine. I want one for my hall.

TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 20/10/2020 14:07

But Tiffany was Art Nouveau not 1930’s!

madcatladyforever · 20/10/2020 14:09

I love them but they would not suit my current décor.

JuliaJohnston · 20/10/2020 14:09

I think reproductions are nearly always a bit naff I’m afraid.
Nonsense, Hyacinth.

dazzlingdeborahrose · 20/10/2020 14:12

If you love them, have one. Ignore any judgemental comments. Have whatever brings a little joy to your life and your home.

FelicityPike · 20/10/2020 14:15

Genuine definitely it naff, but if you get a really good repo one then they can be just as nice.

FelicityPike · 20/10/2020 14:16

Not naff*

HavelockVetinari · 20/10/2020 14:18

They're lovely, but bloody expensive! We've got a small one in our 'naice' living room (as opposed to the one the hell beasts DC are allowed in)and I love looking at it.

SpaceOP · 20/10/2020 14:21

My parents have some which they don't use any more and at some point will be making their way to me. I love them. They do need the right sort of decor which is why I'm not too fussed that I don't have mine yet as quite frankly I don't have anywhere to put them currently.

Larkin01 · 20/10/2020 14:24

I don’t think repro are naff. Most of the time people wouldn’t be able to tell the difference! I couldn’t afford a real one, I think my ‘naff’ reproduction is great!
