Self isolation query... help please

Sorry, I can’t seem to find the answer...

A pupil sitting in front of DD(16) at school has tested positive for Covid and DD has been sent home to isolate as a result. DD hasn’t had direct contact with her and she isn’t in her friendship group but they sit closer than 2m apart so she’s been sent home per school policy.

Do the same isolation rules apply as if she’d been told to isolate by the NHS - ie she can’t go out at all? I thought so but DD seems to have been told that she can go for walks etc as she isn’t displaying symptoms herself...

I’m not sure which one of us is confused but could anyone clarify please?

She has to stay in and not go for walks unless its in your garden.

Has she had a letter or have you had an email with the details of when she can return to school?

MushyMushi · 19/10/2020 16:08

Nope, no letter or email, just a phone call today! She’s allowed back in from 2 November.

So no leaving the house? Ouch.

Yes, she needs to stay in the house for 14 days from the last time they had a class together.

That's a shame over half term, but loads of people in the same boat.

No, no leaving the house (apart from garden) and no people over. It's a pain in the arse, sorry.
