Anyone a fan of The Thick of It

I’m off uni sick today so I’m having a day on the settee and I’m rewatching The Thick of It for the hundredth time.

There’s so many amazing moments in it, when Malcolm hits Glenn in the hotel corridor, Tim In Ruislip, when Tickel kills himself and the ministers on the top of the slide trying to get phone signal, the subsequent inquiry.... way too many to mention

Anyone else a fan?

The lockdown scene, the actress from the focus group and Hugh hides in the cupboard, Robyn asking Malcolm how to clear a paper Jam and when Malcolm says ‘Terri was just about to tell us something important’ and she says the pizza delivery is downstairs 😂😂😂😂♥️

It seems dated to me. Though if you did a modern version, no one would believe you and I expect lawyers would be on to the makers very quickly.

ANoTail · 19/10/2020 15:37

Yes, absolutely love it.

"It's like a clown running across a minefield." Is probably one of my favourite moments.

BeneficiaryMadness · 19/10/2020 15:37

My absolute favourite. I love Veep too!

nancy75 · 19/10/2020 15:39

I loved it. I have a suspicion that our current government may have watched it & thought it was a training video on how to run a country

PearlieQueen · 19/10/2020 15:39

Malcolm Tucker is my guilty pleasure 😮

unmarkedbythat · 19/10/2020 15:41

I really was, and then actual politics became far more insane than anything in it and that's sort of ruined it for me.

Zaphodsotherhead · 19/10/2020 16:15

Malcolm's face in the final episode, when they all turn on him. Makes me cry every time.

But then I love Peter Capaldi and may just overidentify.

AdriannaP · 19/10/2020 16:16

Loved it.

You have to watch Veep too, it’s brilliant.

BestWatcherInTheUnit · 19/10/2020 16:17

“I call App Britain”

BangingOn · 19/10/2020 16:30

I love it, my favourite TV show by a mile. I even have a Tucker’s Law tea towel.

It is a work of absolute genius, especially the inquiry episode.

JoyDivisionOvenGlovesx · 19/10/2020 16:49

And all lemons are difficult in our house.

TheOrchidKiller · 19/10/2020 16:59

Saw the film version "In the Loop" at the cinema. It had a slightly different cast/characters although Toby & Malcolm were still in it.

They ended up in America, which was also entertaining.

"A fucking omnishambles" is my favourite phrase, & currently very relevant.

JorisBonson · 19/10/2020 17:02

Come the fuck in or fuck the fuck off!

BearSoFair · 19/10/2020 17:04

The whole third series is some of the greatest tv ever.

"Maybe you can download rice!" became a bit of a thing between DH and I for a while, might need to bring that back Grin

SoLongFurlough · 19/10/2020 17:04

Would love to know what he would have made of Brexit!

iklboo · 19/10/2020 17:06

Fucking right I am!

Andylion · 19/10/2020 17:46

I love it. I had all the dvds but they were ruined when my sister's basement flooded. (I had loaned them to her.) I had such a difficult time replacing them. I used to check iTunes and Amazon periodically and was finally rewarded when the whole thing was available on iTunes. Previous versions did not include the Specials.

Unfortunately iTunes does not have any extras like deleted scenes. "He trained as a priest!" (Uttered by Malcolm in reference to Jamie after a particularly rude outburst by Jamie.)

BashfulClam · 19/10/2020 18:16

Malcolm Tucker describing Star Wars makes me cry with laughter ‘...he’s got a tinfoil pal and a pedal bin..’

Human mooncup!
Cunt cake.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 19/10/2020 18:19

I came in to say "come the fuck in, or fuck the fuck off" but someone beat me to it.

Tinghtwek · 19/10/2020 18:19

I loved it back in the day. A lot of recent events have me muttering that "this is like something from The Thick of It".

JoanneCofton · 19/10/2020 22:43

Of course the cunt cake, how could I forget. ‘ this could be from anybody’.

Also love when Nicola tells the journalist about the data leak, or the woman screaming have you ever cleaned up your own mothers piss. Also feel sorry for Malcolm when they turn on him, he is my guilty crush!

I’ll give Veep a try!

six-toed pony fuckers and the Party being build on a solid bed of cunts are a couple of favourites. Using gay as a casual insult feels very old fashioned though. Surely wouldn't be used now.
